Hello, and what Submio actually is.

A short note on why we built a candidate submission portal for independent recruiters — and what we deliberately left out.

Submio is a candidate submission portal. That is the whole thing.

You build a submission — resume, scorecard, short clips from your screening call, a one-paragraph "here is why this person matters" — and you send a single public link to the hiring manager. They open it in their browser. No login. No new tool to learn. They react inside the page, you see the reaction in real time on your dashboard.

What it is not

Submio is not an ATS. There is no requisition system, no pipeline-of-pipelines, no sequencer, no AI sourcing engine, no chatbot, no compliance dashboard. We are not trying to replace your sourcing tools or your CRM. We are trying to replace the shared Google Drive folders, the bullet-point emails, and the back-and-forth WhatsApps that currently make up the moment between "I think this candidate is good" and "my client has decided."

If you are a recruiter inside a large agency with an ATS already locked in, Submio probably is not the right tool. If you are an independent recruiter or a small agency where the hard part of the job is making your hiring managers actually look at your candidates, you are exactly who we built this for.

The hard part of the job is not finding good candidates. It is getting busy hiring managers to react to the ones you find.

How it works

You create a client. You open a role under that client. You submit a candidate. You copy the review link. You paste it into whatever channel your hiring manager actually reads — email, Slack, WhatsApp, signal pigeon. They open the link.

On the review page they see the candidate the way you want them to see them. Identity card up top, a strip of short clips directly underneath, scorecard inline, resume below. To the side, a small action panel: sentiment selector, move-to-next-stage button, ask-a-question, pass, email-the-candidate. They do something. Anything.

You get a notification within seconds. The activity feed on your dashboard updates. The submission moves out of "awaiting HM" and into whatever bucket the HM put it in. You always know whether the candidate is being looked at — and the moment they get a yes or a no, you know that too.

Why we did not build the rest

Every other product in this space tries to be a system of record. They want to be the home for your candidates, your roles, your pipeline data, your reports, your billing. So they make you fill in seventeen fields before you can do the one thing you opened the app to do.

Submio is opinionated about being a system of action — specifically the small handful of actions that turn a screened candidate into a hired candidate. We do those well. Everything else, we either point at your existing tools or politely decline to build.

The V1 free tier ships every feature in the product. You can run one active role at a time. If you place one candidate from that role, you have earned Pro back many times over.

What is next

We are publishing here roughly monthly. Mostly notes from the build — what we shipped, what we did not, why. Subscribe to the email list at the bottom of the page if you want them. Or do not. We are not great at marketing and we are not going to ramp up the sending cadence to chase opens.

Welcome.
