Client portal for recruiters
A client portal for recruiters is a private review surface a recruiter shares with their hiring-manager clients so the client can review candidates and give feedback without joining the recruiter's internal toolchain.
Short definition
A client portal for recruiters is a private review surface — usually a single URL per candidate or per role — that a recruiter shares with their hiring-manager clients. The client reviews candidates and gives feedback in the portal without joining the recruiter's internal toolchain or creating an account.
"Client portal" is recruiter shorthand for the surface their hiring-manager clients interact with. The client almost never wants to log into the recruiter's ATS or CRM — they want to see candidates, react, and be done. A client portal is the dedicated review surface that hides everything else.
Why recruiters use one
Recruiters and hiring managers operate at different speeds and in different tools. The recruiter lives in LinkedIn, their CRM, an email thread, and their ATS if they have one. The hiring manager lives in their inbox and Slack. Pushing the hiring manager into the recruiter's stack creates friction — they don't log in, deals stall.
A client portal flips this: the recruiter does all the assembly inside their workflow, then hands off a single URL. The hiring manager just opens the link — no account, no software install, no learning curve.
Client portal vs candidate submission portal
In practice the terms overlap. "Candidate submission portal" is the precise name for the surface that holds one candidate per page. "Client portal" is the broader umbrella that includes shortlists, pipeline rollups, and feedback loops. Submio is both — every candidate gets a submission portal page, and the hiring manager can move them through stages from inside that page.
Where Submio fits
Submio is a standalone client portal built for independent recruiters and 2-8 person agencies. It does the workflow without requiring Bullhorn, Greenhouse, or any other ATS underneath.

Applicant tracking system
An applicant tracking system (ATS) is a database-of-record for everyone who applies to a company, used by in-house recruiting teams and staffing firms to manage candidates, requisitions, and pipeline state at scale.
