How the HM emails the candidate
Submio doesn't proxy any email. Here's exactly what happens when the hiring manager clicks Email candidate.
Clicking the Email candidate button on the public review page opens the hiring manager's default mail client — Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail, whatever they normally use. The To field is prefilled with the candidate's address. You (the recruiter) are auto-added to the CC. A short subject line and starter body are filled in.
The email sends from the HM's real inbox. Every reply the candidate makes goes back to the HM's inbox. You see every message because you're CC'd. Submio never sees the contents of the conversation after the handoff.
Why mailto: instead of OAuth
- Zero setup for the HM. They never log in to Submio, never authorize anything, never install anything.
- The thread lives where the HM already lives — their inbox. No new place to check, no new tool to learn.
- You stay in the loop automatically by being CC'd, without us storing email credentials or proxying messages.
Note
If a future role calls for an in-app email composer or outbound sequencing from your inbox, that's V2 territory. V1 keeps the handoff lean.
